a silly poem
By: Charlotte Tuggle and John Silva – January 2020
For breakfast, should I have a nice juicy worm?
Ugh… just the thought of it makes me squirm.
However, if I were a robin, the choice would be easy,
But since I’m not,… the thought makes me queasy.
I see them wiggling across the floors
Slithering along in twos and threes and fours.
Marching together… first to the left then to the right
On and on they go, marching into the night.
When those wiggly worms play their flutes
I can’t resist taping my boots.
Dancing two by two… they are such a delight
They danced the polka all day and all night.
Totally astonished and amazed
Their wiggling and jiggling leaves me dazed.
What a lovely party they had.
Laughing and dancing, no one was bad.
All night they laughed and danced at the fiesta.
They whirled and twirled till they needed a siesta.
I’d tell you their secrets and what they thought
But, then I’d certainly be caught!
On and on they go
Frightening people as they grow and grow.
Bigger and bigger they loom
Louder and louder they boom.
In my dream, I’m thinking I’ve awakened from my sleep,
Thinking, I’ll never again eat spaghetti with my feet.
The sight of spaghetti dangling from my toes,
Makes me gag, and wish I hadn’t been born with such nose.
