It seems like, as a society, we have gotten so concerned about being politically correct, that we are almost afraid to tell a joke for fear of offending someone. NEWS FLASH! A well chosen and expertly crafted joke can do just the opposite.
There have been many times when I’ve begun a conversation with someone working in customer relations, or speaking to someone in line at the grocery store, or making a doctor’s appointment and I’ll ask them if they would like to hear a joke? Most of the time the response is “I’d love to hear a joke… I need a good laugh. And, the best part is when I finish telling the joke, I usually get a hearty laugh, a soft chuckle, or I liked it.
Sometimes they’ll say that was a good one. It really made me laugh. Or, that was so funny! Some days, I get a special heartfelt response like “Thank you so much. I appreciate you sharing that joke or story with me. It’s been a long day, and sometimes people are not as kind or as understanding as they could be. Hearing your joke was just what I needed. You made my day! Or, I liked it so much that when I get home I’m gonna share it with my wife and kids. This kind of response puts a smile on my face and makes my day.
I’ve gotten so many positive responses from people that I’ve begun suggesting they share a joke or two. A short search on Google is an excellent way to find a joke for you to tell that is perfect for you. And, when they find one or two they really like, they should write them down, put them in their wallet, or in their smartphone. Then anytime they get an opportunity to share the joke, they have it, and its ready to go.
There are so many negative thoughts and emotions being expressed these days, I feel this is my chance to bring some joy and happiness into the world. Would you care to join me? I’d enjoy the company.
Yikes! I almost forgot! WOULD YOU (I mean you personally) LIKE TO HEAR A GREAT JOKE? This joke has two parts, and it is one of my favorites. And… wait for it… I just happen to have it with me.
This girl, Sally, is doing her weekly shopping at the grocery store. She’s going up and down the aisles putting things in her cart when all of a sudden, she bumps into something. She looks down and sees that she has run her cart into a dwarf. Horrified, she says to the dwarf, I’m soooo sorry. I didn’t see you. She asks are you hurt? The dwarf has a bit of an attitude and answers, “No, I’m not hurt, but I’m not happy.“ After a short pause, Sally says to the dwarf… Well, then which one are you? LOL
She tells the dwarf I’m so sorry, and asks if she can tell him a joke to make up for crashing into him with her cart. The dwarf says sure, I’d like that! She tells the joke to the dwarf, but the dwarf doesn’t get the joke. Do you know why he didn’t get the joke?
