Hello God… it’s me again. In case you forgot my name, it’s Suzie. I want to tell you about my day. When I got up this morning, the sky was a pretty blue, and I didn’t even have to wear a jacket while I was waiting for the bus to come and take me to school. Thank you for blue skies and warm weather. My friend, George, got to the bus stop before I did this morning, and he was excited to see me and made funny faces that made me laugh. Thank you for letting George be my friend. He is lots of fun.
I got a gold star today on my spelling test because I got all of the words right… I’m a good speller. At recess, I fell and scraped my knee, and our school nurse, Mrs. Kuhel, washed it off and put some orange stuff on it and….an…an…and a bandaid to keep out the germs. Thank you for sending Mrs. Kuhel to take care of me and for Miss Taschner, our science teacher, she is always telling us about really smart and fun stuff. And, thank you for all of my other teachers… they are so nice. Well… except for Mr. Olson… sometimes he can be a bit grumpy. So, if you can help him to smile more… that would be nice.
When I got home, I had a great big glass of milk and some chocolate chip cookies that grandma made for me… yum yum. They were so good, and the chocolate was really warm and gooey. Today, grandma told me a story about how when she was a little girl, she climbed up the big tree in her backyard… and then she couldn’t get down. The firemen had to come get her. I love grandma… Thank you for giving me such a nice nana. And, please tell grandpa I love him and miss him, and I can’t wait to get to heaven so I can sit on his lap again… and he can tell me stories about when mommy and daddy were little and especially when he was a little boy.
Thank you for loving me and mommy and daddy and my little brother Jimmy… and my aunts and uncles… and my whoooooooole family. And, please don’t forget my friend Judy. I like her very much because she is fun to play with. After school today, she came over and we had a nice tea party with our dollies. Judy named her dolly Precious… she is soooooooooo beautiful… but sometimes she can be a little bit bossy.
When it started to get dark, Judy had to go home… an… an… and afterwards I did my homework. It was fun. One of the questions was about two cousins, Henry and Jatina, who went to their Uncle Theodore’s apple orchard to pick some apples. When they were finished picking the apples, their Uncle Thedodore asked them how many apples they had picked. Henry told his uncle he had picked three apples and Jatina told him she had picked six apples. Uncle Thedodore , told them their apple basket could hold eleven apples, and he wanted to know if all of their apples would fit in his basket? I got the answer right. God, just in case you don’t know the answer… the basket was big enough because it could hold eleven apples and they had only picked nine apples so there would be room for two more apples in the basket.
Then, Nana and I snuggled on the couch, and she read me some more of our story. It is a long story. It is about a family that was on a ship with big tall sails. And, there was this big storm, and it busted up the ship and it sank. That was so scarry. But, they were OK because the next morning when they woke up they were all safe on this beautiful beach. God, do you know what marooned means? It is a new word, I just learned.
I can’t wait for Sunday to get here… I want to see Miss Klosinski… She’s my Sunday School teacher, and she tells us nice stories about you. Mommy told me that you love everyone… I like that. I feel sorry for kids and mommies and daddies that don’t have enough to eat or a place to live… Can you please help them? And, God… grandma and Jimmy and me… we all want to be with you… and your son Jesus… and mommy… and daddy… and grandpa… and my goldfish Lucy. It will be so nice to be all together again. God, do you have toys for kids like me to play with when we get to heaven… I hope so.
Well… that’s all for now… goodnight God… I love you.
